** March 17, 2020 update **
BrightStar is operated entirely with volunteer fosters. We have no central kennel, which is beneficial for the dogs, but this limits the number of dogs we can have to how many people open their homes.
To foster an animal is a great act of kindness. The animals hold a special place in your heart, and you make a world of difference in their lives.
Please help us save lives by fostering a dog. BrightStar provides food, guidance, and veterinary care, if necessary, for foster dogs.
Meet the dogs!
Until further notice, there are no public meet & greets due to NY restrictions on gatherings.
If you would like to meet a dog, please contact their foster to make sure they will be attending. The above times may change, or events may be cancelled due to inclement weather, so please double check our Facebook page before heading out if you haven’t arranged a specific meeting. You’re welcome to stop in and talk with us if you’re considering adopting or fostering a dog, and we’re always happy when former BrightStar dogs stop in for a visit!

Effective 2/2018, the regular adoption fees are:
- Puppy, not yet spayed/neutered (generally under 6 months): $325
- Adult: $375
- Senior (generally 7+): $150
The adoption fee may vary for specific dogs and can be found in their description. All dogs are up to date on shots, microchipped, and spayed or neutered.
BrightStar charges $50 for all owner surrenders. If the dog has not been spayed/neutered, the fee is $100 to help pay for the surgery.
