Kina

(Updated: 5/29/07)

Kina is a female spayed 4 yr. old GSD. She is a sweet, obedient, intelligent and loyal companion. She loves to play fetch and is good in the car. She can adapt to another dog and has an excellent temperament. Kina came to me as a rescue from a shelter where she was dumped in deplorable condition.

Presently, Kina suffers from allergies and is on prednisone. She is on a home cooked diet. Kina seeks a home that would be willing to support her needs and financially be able to help her quality of life. Atopica is a drug that helps dogs like Kina, but it is expensive. Anyone living with a dog with allergies that would like to share helpful information it would be welcomed.

Anyone interested in adopting Kina or able
to help financially, please call Nancy at 516-868-0635.

Dutchess

(Updated: 11-20-07)

Dutchess is a 5 ½ year old female Shepherd mix weighing 46 lbs. She is looking for a loving home without children. She loves walks and playing hide and seek with her toys. Her favorite past time is having her belly rubbed. Dutchess would prefer to be the only pet, but if introduced properly she may be alright with other pets.
Dutchess is spayed and up to date on her shots.
If you can offer Dutchess a forever home, please contact Bonnie at bonniestueber@yahoo.com
Pamela

(Updated: 06-19-08)

Pamela is only 3 years old & spent the last 2 years in a shelter. They were going to kill her for more space. We just could not let that happen to this very special girl.

If this isn't the most beautiful girl! She has so many colors in her coat you will find you cannot take your eyes off her - black, silvers, browns, white.

Pamela wants to be in the midst of everything you do & would do well as the only dog. She loves people & gets along with other dogs but thinks she is a princess. She loves to talk to you but rarely barks.

If you have ever considered the fun of agility, this may be your dog. She is very smart and knows her basic obedience skills. She runs on a treadmill to keep her figure & loves it so much she will go over & stand on it until you start it going!

She is up-to-date on her shots, spayed & micro-chipped. She eats all natural food & is on Heartworm & flea prevention.

Prancer

(Updated: 06-24-08)

This handsome boy has been tied to a tree with only a barrel for shelter for most of his life. He is about 10 years old and still a peppy walker.

Hank is really a great dog in spite of what he has been through. He walks nicely on a leash which was a surprise - he is cautious around men but not aggressive in any way. He was around other dogs and seems fine with dogs that are calm - but he did not like a younger lab that was high energy. He is in no way dog aggressive - he would probably take a little time integrating into your household if you have other dogs but I do not think it would be impossible. He is very protective of his kennel space but most GSDs are and it is something you would expect from a dog that has been tied up and had to defend his territory his whole life.

He is on the light side and definitely needs to gain some weight and needs some good dog food to help his coat which is dry. Hank is neutered and up-to-date on all his shots.

Overall, he is highly intelligent and still willing to want to trust people. Hank is currently in a kennel situation and would love to have a family of his own. Hank is currently located in Georgia but would travel for the right family.

For more information on Hank, please contact Molly at southerncrossgsdrescue@gmail.com
Snoop

(Updated: 06-24-08)

Snoop is an 8 year old, neutered Shepherd mix. He is great with both male and female dogs and also with my cat. He loves to play and fetch the ball...but then rip it apart.

He also LOVES naps and baths! His two favorite things about baths have to be the towel drying (where he likes to figure 8 through your legs afterwards) and the salon-style blow out...where he patiently stands in luxury and gets his coat blown dry.

Snoop also has 6 toes on both of his back feet...odd, I know but it's true.

He LOVES treats and eating in general, and will ALWAYS remind you when it's feeding time.

Snoop adores walks and will also let you know when it's time to walk...just in case you forget. (He is 163 lbs. so he does require a strong handler.)

He is an extremely quirky and fun-loving dog. He needs pills for his Hypothyroidism and special food for his allergies. At times he can be a bit protective of his toys and food...but who isn't?

Snoop has been in a foster home since July 3, 2007, and with each day has become healthier and more gentle and loving. This overlooked sweetheart could really use a comfortable, stable home environment, as he really has been patiently waiting.

If interested in Snoop, please contact Patty at NYCA: (212) 427-8273.

Maggie

(Updated: 08-11-08)

Maggie is a Shepherd/Lab mix who is about 10 years old. She is good with dogs after she is introduced to them. She is great with cats and kids. Not sure about babies or really young kids as she has not been around them in a long time. Loves to play with toys and loves attention. She is up to date on all her shots. She is very spunky and loves to be pet and be by your side. She has not been on a leash much as she has had the invisible fence for most of her life.

For more information on Maggie, please contact Kelly at kelly.morrissey@transport.alstom.com
Rusty

(Updated: 08-14-08)

Rusty is a senior boy, we are estimating him at about ten years old. He is about 70 pounds but could use another ten to fifteen pounds to put him where he needs to be. He wants nothing more than to be with a human to call his own.

Rusty has been to the vet and had a full physical. He even had his hips x-rayed and the vet says his hips are great! Rusty was treated for lyme disease and is done with the meds now.

Rusty is developing degenerative myelopathy, his back legs may be woblbley at times and he will need medication to help keep him strong for the rest of his life.

Rusty's dedicated foster mom takes him swimming almost daily, and he loves his walks and play in the yard. People that first meet Rusty think he is much younger than his age due to his lively attitude outside. Inside the house, Rusty is a couch potato.

He loves the beach, and lake and plays fetch in the water like a young dog.

Rusty is good with other dogs, submissive with dogs exerting their dominance. He just walks away. He does love to play and interact with dogs that are non-confrontational. He has not been tested with cats.

Rusty would love to bond with a kind, compassionate and loving human. He would do well with someone who is retired, works from home or works part-time. Rusty would love a fenced yard because he enjoys laying out in the sun.

Rusty is good off leash in non-traffic areas - woods, lake, beach and the like.

Rusty loves head and neck rubs, and nuzzles his head into your thigh to let you know he is there. Rusty will be a loving, loyal and constant dog companion to a loving, loyal and constant human companion.
